The Bereavement Committee is a non-denominational Spiritual Greif Group. They come together to focus on helping those dealing with grief and loss. They work instill hope, create friendships within the group, and provide a safe and comforting environment in which members can confront their feelings and learn to cope with their losses.
The Bereavement Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month, weather and holidays permitting, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. During each meeting, they strive to include aspects of hope, faith, and spirituality, through prayer and readings. When attending the monthly meetings, there are opportunities to grow personally and as a community. Though the meetings are done in a group setting, they are always geared toward the individuals’ unique needs.
Individuals from all stages of grief, whether you’re newly grieving, or have been working through your grief for years, are welcome to attend the monthly Bereavement meetings. There is no commitment to attend each month. Rather, members are free to come and go as they need and desire. If you think you may be interested, don’t hesitate to try it, even if just for one month.
If you are interested in helping those working through the grieving process, the Bereavement Committee offers various ways for people to volunteer. Volunteers can donate items such as refreshments for the meetings, or encouraging books and movies to be added to their lending library. If you are interested in helping in a more hands—on way, the committee is always looking for compassionate people and good listeners to aid their members in their grieving journey.
Pamphlets with more information can be found in the gathering space, and in the funeral homes in town.
